Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 whole wheel of Brie cheese (812 oz)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • Crackers or sliced baguette, for serving

Optional Ingredients

  • Puff pastry sheet, thawed (for wrapped version)
  • Fresh herbs such as thyme or rosemary, for garnish
  • Chopped walnuts or pecans (for nutty topping)
  • Fig jam or fresh sliced pears (for fruity twist)
  • Chili-infused honey or crushed red pepper flakes (for spicy kick)
  • Sea salt, a sprinkle to enhance flavors

Instructions

  1. Preheat Your Oven: Set the oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure even heating of the brie so it melts softly without scorching.
  2. Prepare the Brie: If using puff pastry, roll it out and gently wrap the entire brie wheel, sealing the edges securely. If not using puff pastry, place the brie directly in a small baking dish or on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  3. Add Honey and Optional Toppings: Drizzle honey generously over the surface of the brie. Optionally, add chopped nuts, fresh herbs, or a sprinkle of sea salt to enhance the layers of flavor.
  4. Bake Until Gooey and Golden: Place the brie in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is soft and bubbling and the puff pastry, if used, turns golden brown.
  5. Serve Immediately: Remove from the oven and let it rest for 1-2 minutes to slightly firm up before slicing and serving warm with crackers or bread.

Notes

  • Let the Brie come to room temperature for 20-30 minutes before baking to ensure even melting.
  • Use high-quality honey for a deeper sweetness and better aroma.
  • Watch closely after 15 minutes to prevent overbaking and drying out the cheese or burning the crust.
  • Use a thin, sharp knife to cut through the baked brie cleanly without pushing out the cheese.
  • Serve warm and reheat gently if needed to restore the melty texture.
