Ingredients

Scale

Base Ingredients

  • Saltine Crackers – enough to cover a baking sheet in a single layer

Toffee Layer

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) Unsalted Butter
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar, packed

Topping

  • 2 cups Chocolate Chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate)
  • 1/4 cup Colorful Easter Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pan and Crackers: Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange saltine crackers in a single layer, closely packed to cover the entire surface.
  2. Make the Toffee Layer: In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar and bring the mixture to a boil. Continue to boil for 3 minutes, stirring constantly to prevent burning and create a glossy toffee.
  3. Pour Toffee Over Crackers: Immediately pour the hot toffee evenly over the arranged crackers, spreading gently to coat every cracker thoroughly.
  4. Bake to Set Toffee: Place the baking sheet in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) and bake for about 5 minutes to set the toffee and allow it to infuse into the crackers.
  5. Add Chocolate and Sprinkles: Remove the pan from the oven. Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over the hot toffee. Let them sit for a few minutes to melt, then spread the melted chocolate smoothly. Finish by sprinkling a generous amount of colorful Easter sprinkles on top.
  6. Cool and Break Apart: Allow the candy to cool completely at room temperature or in the fridge until fully set. Once firm, break into bite-sized pieces and enjoy.

Notes

  • Use fresh saltine crackers to ensure the candy remains crunchy.
  • Monitor the toffee closely to avoid burning, which can cause bitterness.
  • Spread the melted chocolate quickly for a smooth, even layer before it hardens.
  • Choose high-quality chocolate chips for better flavor.
  • Cool the candy completely before breaking for clean pieces and intact layers.
