Main Ingredients
- 200g spaghetti or your favorite quick-cooking pasta
- 4 cloves fresh garlic, thinly sliced or minced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Optional Ingredients
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for subtle heat)
- 2 tablespoons chopped parsley or fresh herbs (optional)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Before draining, reserve about one cup of the starchy pasta water, then drain the pasta.
- Sauté the Garlic: While the pasta cooks, heat the olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced or minced garlic and sauté gently for 1-2 minutes until fragrant and golden, being careful not to burn it.
- Combine Pasta and Sauce: Add the drained pasta directly to the skillet with the garlic. Toss to combine well. Pour in a splash of the reserved pasta water to loosen the sauce and coat the noodles evenly. Season with red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
- Finish with Herbs and Cheese: Remove the skillet from heat. Sprinkle chopped parsley and grated Parmesan cheese over the pasta. Toss gently again to distribute evenly. Serve immediately while hot and enjoy.
Notes
- Use fresh garlic for the best flavor.
- Do not overcook pasta; al dente texture is ideal.
- Reserve pasta water to help the sauce cling to the noodles.
- Sauté garlic on medium-low heat to avoid bitterness.
- Adjust or omit red pepper flakes according to your spice preference.
