  • 200g spaghetti or your favorite quick-cooking pasta
  • 4 cloves fresh garlic, thinly sliced or minced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for subtle heat)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley or fresh herbs (optional)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Before draining, reserve about one cup of the starchy pasta water, then drain the pasta.
  2. Sauté the Garlic: While the pasta cooks, heat the olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced or minced garlic and sauté gently for 1-2 minutes until fragrant and golden, being careful not to burn it.
  3. Combine Pasta and Sauce: Add the drained pasta directly to the skillet with the garlic. Toss to combine well. Pour in a splash of the reserved pasta water to loosen the sauce and coat the noodles evenly. Season with red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
  4. Finish with Herbs and Cheese: Remove the skillet from heat. Sprinkle chopped parsley and grated Parmesan cheese over the pasta. Toss gently again to distribute evenly. Serve immediately while hot and enjoy.
