Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1/4 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup Whole Milk
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1/4 cup Butter, melted

Glaze & Topping

  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar
  • 1/3 cup Maple Syrup
  • 46 slices Bacon

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Donut Dough: Mix the dry ingredients – flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt – in a large bowl. In another bowl, whisk together milk, egg, and melted butter. Gradually add the wet mix to the dry ingredients, stirring gently until the dough comes together and forms a soft, sticky batter perfect for frying.
  2. Shape and Fry the Donuts: Lightly flour a work surface and roll out the dough to about half an inch thick. Cut circles using a donut cutter or two round objects. Heat oil in a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot to 350°F (175°C). Carefully fry the donuts in batches until they puff up and turn golden brown, about 1-2 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
  3. Cook the Bacon: While the donuts cool slightly, cook bacon strips in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. Drain excess grease, then chop into small pieces to sprinkle on top of the glaze later.
  4. Make the Maple Glaze: In a medium bowl, whisk together powdered sugar and maple syrup until smooth and glossy. Adjust consistency with a little milk if necessary, so the glaze is thick enough to coat but still drips nicely.
  5. Glaze and Top: Dip each donut halfway into the maple glaze, allowing excess to drip off. Place on a rack and immediately sprinkle with crispy bacon bits while the glaze is still wet, so they stick perfectly.

Notes

  • Use fresh bacon cooked until extra crispy for the best texture and flavor contrast.
  • Maintain the oil temperature steady at 350°F (175°C) for evenly cooked, non-greasy donuts.
  • Mix the dough just until combined to keep the donuts light and tender.
  • Apply glaze when donuts are slightly warm for better absorption and shine.
  • For a thicker glaze, dip the donuts twice, allowing the first layer to set before the second.
