Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground meat (beef, pork, turkey, or combination)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (or gluten-free breadcrumbs/almond flour)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Sauce & Garnish

  • 1 cup cranberry sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 tbsp BBQ sauce or honey (optional)
  • Fresh herbs (parsley or thyme) for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Meatball Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground meat, breadcrumbs, egg, finely chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined to keep the meatballs tender and juicy.
  2. Form the Meatballs: Roll the mixture into small, evenly sized balls about 1 to 1 1/2 inches in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet or plate ready for cooking.
  3. Cook the Meatballs: Brown the meatballs in a skillet over medium heat with a little oil, turning occasionally for 8-10 minutes until golden brown and cooked through. Alternatively, bake them at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes for a hands-off approach.
  4. Make the Cranberry Glaze: While the meatballs cook, mix the cranberry sauce with BBQ sauce or honey in a small saucepan. Warm gently until combined and slightly thickened to create a glossy glaze.
  5. Toss and Serve: Transfer the cooked meatballs to a serving dish and pour the warm cranberry glaze over them. Gently toss to coat all meatballs evenly. Sprinkle chopped fresh herbs on top for a vibrant finish.

Notes

  • Use fresh garlic and herbs for brighter flavor.
  • Do not overmix meat mixture to avoid tough meatballs.
  • Ensure uniform meatball size for even cooking.
  • Warm cranberry glaze gently to maintain texture.
  • Meatballs can be prepared a day ahead and refrigerated.
