Ingredients

Scale

Cookie Dough

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup heat-treated all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup milk powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Chocolate Cups

  • 6 oz dark or milk chocolate, melted
  • Optional garnishes: flaky sea salt, mini chocolate chips, colorful sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cookie dough: Beat the softened unsalted butter with brown sugar until fluffy and creamy. Stir in vanilla extract. Gradually mix in the heat-treated flour, milk powder, and salt to form a soft dough. Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  2. Melt the chocolate for the cups: Slowly melt your choice of chocolate in a heat-proof bowl over a double boiler or in short bursts in the microwave, stirring frequently to achieve smooth, glossy chocolate perfect for molding.
  3. Form the chocolate cups: Using a small spoon or mini cupcake pan, coat the interiors of molds completely with the melted chocolate. Chill in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes until the chocolate hardens firmly.
  4. Fill with cookie dough: Once the chocolate shells are set, spoon the prepared cookie dough into each cup, pressing gently to fill completely without overfilling, leaving a small gap for sealing.
  5. Seal and chill: Add a thin final layer of melted chocolate over the cookie dough filling to seal each cup. Return to the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to harden fully before serving.

Notes

  • Use heat-treated flour by microwaving or baking to eliminate any bacteria risk.
  • Ensure all ingredients, especially butter, are at room temperature for the best dough texture.
  • Do not overfill the chocolate cups to allow space for the sealing chocolate layer.
  • Chill each chocolate layer before proceeding to the next step to keep cups intact.
  • Use high-quality chocolate for smooth, flavorful cups.
